Konkuk Univ team felicitation ceromoney at Patna: Dec 21, 2008

BBrains Development Society accorded welcome to a five members (Prof. Hoon Taek Lee, Dr.Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Mrs. Kyoung Hee Kim, Mrs. Sweta Gupta, Mr. Young-moon) delegations from Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea led by Prof. Hon Taek Lee, at its office on Sunday evening 6:00 PM, 21st Dec.2008. Prof. Lee , Director of Bio Organ Research centre, Department of Biotechnology in Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea., was a accompanied by his wife (Mrs. Kyoung Hee Kim) , and Mukesh Gupta his wife (Mrs. Sweta Gupta). These persons were experts in animal Bio Technology of the university. They extend experience in the field with members of B.Brains Development society.

After a brief fellowship, the member of B.Brains Development society accorded a felicitation to the member of the delegations. Prof. Santosh Kumar did the anchoring at the function. One of the promoters of the society, a senior Journalist Mr. Amalendu Narayan Sinha welcoming them recalled the relationship between South Korea and India. Mr. Amalendu highlighted the technical and Scientific Development in various fields in South Korea and their applications in the development of the country. Appreciating South Korea skill management and described the Seoul Olympics as land mark in the history of the Olympics games be sides, Mr. Amalendu referred to both the countries as the arch rivals in the games of Hocky, Tenis, Boxing, and Wrestling. He also mentioned about Koreans affords for the unification of both these Korea like east and west Germany. Mr. Amalendu hope the South Koreans would provide technical and Scientific know how to the Society as well as students of Bihar.

On behalf of BiharBrains, Prof. A. Yadav former Vice Chancellor of Bihar University presented a presented brochure to Prof. Lee and a letter of his nomination into team of global scientific council. Prof. Yadav outlined the aims of the society and its global scientific council. He thanked Prof. Lee for having association with Magadh University (PG Dept of Botany and Biotechnology, College of commerce). On behalf of BiharBrains society, he greeted Prof. Jainendra Kumar (Head of the department of Botany and Biotechnology, College of Commerce, Patna) for being a part of this collaboration. He hope this association with the co-ordination of BiharBrains, a new era of scientific interaction will be started in the field of animal biotechnology and its related subject between both universities. BiharBrains will always be involved in these coordinated effort for starting any venture or foreign university collaboration with universities of Bihar. He showed his firm belief that doing such kind of activities will certainly change the face of Research & development in the state . He also thanked Dr. Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Asst. Professor of animal biotechnology department, Konkuk University for playing a major role in this collaboration.

Replying to the felicitations Prof. Lee accepted his nomination into the global scientific council and thanked members for their noble effort. He gave a brief resume for the Scientific activity in their application to the development of cattle wealth and he also assured all possible help to improve Scientific know ledge to the students of Bihar. Prof. Mukesh Gupta gave a demonstration on the development of Animal Biotechnical affords on the occasion.

In his message from Korea, Mr. Bibhuti Bikramaditya, Chairman of BiharBrains expressed the hope that this collaboration will have great impact in improving research environment in Bihar. His message was read out the message by Dr. Rakesh Kumar of Patna Womens College, Patna. Prof. Jainendra Kumar of College of Commerce, Magadh University also address on the occasion.

BBSC Inaugurates its Center for Personality Development and Human Resources(CPDHR)

Inauguration Ceremony

BiharBrains Scholastic Center established its ¡°Center for Personality development and Human resources(CPDHR) at OmVihar Commercial Complex at Patna here on Dec 12, 1008. This was inaugurated by Prof. RajMani Prasad Sinha, former Vice Chancellor of Mithila University. While inaugurating this center, he said that students of Bihar lacks in soft skills and interpersonal skills. This is very good initiatives by BBrains development society to start such courses in Bihar. He thanked members (NRIs and NRBs) who contributed in this venture. He hoped that this small venture may lead to the big NRIs investment in the state for other projects through this society.

On this accession, Mr. Amit Thakur, Director of Digital Footprint outlined the importance of the course and its structure. He said, this course is not only for those who doesn¡¯t know English but also for those who has excellent communication skill in English but failed to deliver in front of his bosses or client. This is completely personality development course which has intended to design and develop glimpse of a person¡¯s attitude and professional etiquettes.

VII. Introduction of CPDHR

There was a discussion regarding CPDHR (Center of Personality Development and Human Resource) at Patna. This institution is going to be established in Patna in association with digital Foot Prints Pvt Ltd. Inauguration is being planned. Followings were the point of discussion:

3. Contribution cum investment scheme of BB: under this scheme, any members will be partner of BB for limited period and 50% share will be for BB and 50 % share will be distributed among investors

VIII. Visit of Kokuk univ korea staffs
Bibhuti ji and his team have convinced professors and management of Kokuk University Korea to have an association with Magadh University. A team of Professors will visit Patna on last week of December. Dr. Mukesh Gupta has played a significant role for this. This will be perhaps for first foreign association in Bihar.

At last, the Chairperson, Mr. Bibhuti Bikramaditya, thanked to all the team members for their participation in the meeting and concluded the following points:

Dear Friends,

I am very glad to inform you that we are now successful in convincing Konkuk Univ, Seoul, Korea to have association between PG dept of Biotechnology, College of Commerce and Animal Biotechnology dept of KonKum Univ( http://animal. konkuk.ac. kr/). This is excellent piece of news for Dept, Magadh univ and all of us.

A five member team of professors led by Prof. Hoon Taek Lee, Director Bio-Organ Research Center,Department of Animal Biotechnology, Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea is visiting Patna on Dec 21, 2008 and will back to korea on Dec 23. They will be Chief guest at Function organised by College of Commerce on Dec 22, 2008 called STRIDE, 2008. During function, A MOU will be signed in presence of dignatories of Patna and renowned local scientists, univ authorities etc.

Our Scientific Council under chairmanship of Prof. R.P. Sinha (Ex-Vc, Mithila Univ and HOD Physics, Patna Univ) may organise welcome function on Dec 22 at Patna on their arrival . College will provide all hospitality to the guest and will organise special lecture in the college on Biotechnology . The korean guest may be one the guest in the STRIDE 2008 organised by the college.

I hope this type of association will pave the path for making suitable research environment in the state of Bihar.

Renewal of Membership
1. The period of annual membership shall be from April 1 of an year to March 31 of the following year. Thus, annual membership will expire on March 31, irrespective of the date of admission in the preceding 12 months.

2. Names of those Annual members, who have not renewed their subscription for more than 3 months from the 1st of April of the year for which subscription is due will be deleted from the roster of membership.

3. The Student Annual Membership is valid from July 1st of a year to 30th June of the following year. The Student Membership should be renewed by 31st August of the year.

A person desirous of joining the society shall apply in writing on a prescribed form along lifetime membership fee.as their admission fee to the general secy. Of the managing committee, who shall be entitled to reject or accept the same without assigning any reason thereof.

2 Establishing Center for Personality Development and Human Resource at Patna

The GBM has decided to start its Center for personality Development and Human Resource (CPD HR) at Patna in association with Digital Footprints, a UK based company. The main aim of this center is to develop interpersonal and soft skills among youngsters which is necessary to have in everybody to compete with fast changing world market where students of Bihar really lack in. This center will provide special training to those who wants to opt for higher studies in abroad, who are working or eligible for working as software professionals, Engineers, Managers (MBA or non MBAs) and govt officials.

The course modules, Brochures and rules and regulations are being prepared and will be announce very shortly.

3 Future activities and events

a. Organising Second Bihar Science Conference, 2009: The second Bihar Science Conference will be organized on Jan 30 – Feb 1, 2009. Magadh University will be the hosting University for this conference and will be organized at PG Center, College of Commerce, Patna. Prof Jainendra Kumar, Head of the PG department of Botany and Biotechnology will be Chairman of this conference.

b. Formation of Global Core Scientific Councils: GBM Members approved the formation of core scientific council headed by Prof Rajmani Prasad Sinha The aim of this council to organize science conferences, Workshops, Scientific Festivals, short term programs, starting R&D Center, and providing help to local research groups. This center is the one of the outcome of the Bihar Science Conference, 2008.

4 Any other Matters with the permission from chairman:

a. Change of address: The address of the society has been changed from Maitri Shanti Bhawan, BM DAS Road to 201, OmVihar Commercial Complex , KadamKuan,Patna-4. The requisition to this effect should go to the govt.

b. Quarterly Meeting: Meeting of executive council should be organized quarterly. The next meeting will be held in February, 2009.

Dear All,

I am happy to inform you that Mr. Sanjay Kumar is now our Mumbai Representative.

On behalf of BiharBrains, I congratulate him and also giving many thanks for accepting this responsibility.

He will be taking guard from Mr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha who has recently joined USA based R&D institute.
Mr. Sanjay is actively involved with us for more than a year and actively participated in serious discussions. He is basically from Muzaffarpur and have been working in healthcare industry for the last 12 years in diversified functional area – as pharma production and marketing, medical transcription and training, clinical research, drug regulatory affairs, and education. Currently working as Senior Scientist-DRA (Alkem Laboratory), as well as consultancy to the organizations and faculty for MSc Clinical Research.

Being new representative of Mumbai, he has to do lot for his chapter. Organising monthly meeting, fund raising for various projects of BB, and increasing membership of the society are the prime concerns of our representatives.
I do hope, he will do justice to his roles and responsibilities.

Today BiharBrains has completed its four years since its inception on Oct 4, 2004 on yahoo. On behalf of the society, I heartily congratulate all our global members, associates and well wishers on this occasion.

We have taken a leap towards helping people back in the Bihar by forming a strategic alliance between Bihar Brains, UK chapter and the Bihar Foundation UK. Meeting was organised at the residence of Dr. Murali Sinha at Walsall

As the saying goes, bhukhe bhajan hot nahi gopala, there was plenty of delicious food to kick start the meeting. Thanks to Dr. Murali and Madam for excellent food and being such a nice host.

Special thanks to Dr. Shripati Upadhyaya for coming over to the meeting and willingness to make available his vast experience in autism to the people of the Bihar . Thanks to each and every one present in the meeting for their valuable contribution and sincere thanks to the spouses of the members present for their patience.

Following issues and action plans emerged from the meeting :

1) Bihar Foundation UK will give as much financial support as possible in organizing the Bihar Science Conference 2009.

2) The theme of the conference can be on flood/ disaster management and Dr. Bhaskar Choubey will discuss this with Bihar Brains. If agreed, BC will identify and invite some of the flood /disaster management experts and BF , UK will support financially to invite those experts

3) Dr. Shripati Upadhyaya, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Tina Malhotra in association with BF , UK will work on starting an Autism assessment and management centre in Patna . Dr. Rajay Narain, on behalf of BF , UK promised to provide all the necessary paraphernalia. Possibility of another satellite centre for autism and mental retardation in the Sheikhpura District will also be explored.

4) Dr. Shripati Upadhyaya, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Tina Malhotra will also work towards training other local professionals and volunteers in the field.

5) Training of local medical professionals for psychiatric assessment and management will be initiated. Dr Murali Sinha will liaise with pharmaceutical companies and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Tina Malhotra will conduct and oversee the training programme.

6) BF, UK in association with BB is planning to promote quality research at the masters and university level. Various incentives for quality research will be considered.

7) Col. C. P. Sinha will help to get funds for other projects. Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Dr. Bhaskar Choubey will write projects proposals which can be funded by various UK government agencies.

8) BB, UK will work along side BF , UK for fund raising events.

9) Dr. Bhaskar Choubey will plan to organize a fund raising event at Oxford which will be supported by all the members of BB , UK and BF , UK .

10) Need to have such meetings at regular intervals was also emphasized.

5. Release of BSC 2009 Brochure to media

The following matters were discussed

1. The date of the BSC 2009 is decided to be on Jan 30, Jan 31, and Feb 1,2009

2. The draft of the scientific council was reviewed. The revised draft of the council is enclosed which is approved unanimously.

3. The core group of the scientific council was reviewed, revised and approved. List enclosed.

4. The fund management committee of the council will comprise of following members

The fund management committee for the BSC 2009 will be decided in

Decisions taken in the First Meeting for Flood Relief @ Pune:

Each community members will work as Co-ordinators. The formation of the community is based on the assumption that members are busy in their livelihood or studies but willing to mitigate miseries of victims in the state of Bihar . Their core responsibilities of coordinators will be following:

1. Promote corporate, working executives and students to come forward donate for the flood affected people.
2. To collect resources from the donors and ensure delivery to the right people in right time.
3. Identified Health is the immediate sector for focus.
4. Focused and defined objective will help this community to effectively achieve the objective which in turn inculcates confidence among donors.
5. High level of transparency will be maintained in dealing with cash or kind.
6. Resources will be generated in phases.
7. Objective of first phase would be to collect selected medicine which may prevent water borne diseases due to unhygienic drinking water and also to test the delivery system. The options for the first phase could be following:
1. Providing supplementary nutritional feed for children, pregnant mothers and lactating mothers. The cost will come around to Rs. 15-17 per persons. It is expected that the support is for minimum 500 persons for next two months at least and its multiples.
2. Providing water purification tablets (i.e., halogen tablets), the minimum intake be around 1000 tablets per day and its multiples for next 5 months.
3. Providing ORS pouches. Any quantity which you consider you all can provide.
4. Cleaning of hand pumps and other drinking water sources.

Sanghi Nagar in brief: Sanghi Nagar is suburb of Hyderabad - Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is an Industrial complex established by the Sanghi Group of Industries. It is around 25 km away from Dilsukh Nagar, Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is very close to the famous Ramoji film city; just 10 minutes walk.

Apart from the group's manufacturing facilities, Sanghi Nagar contains a full - fledged housing complex and health care facilities for its employees. They include Power plants, Communication facilities, Higher Secondary School, Accommodation facilities for all grades of staff & labour, Hospital, Shopping Complex, Entertainment facilities, post office, Cable and Internet access etc.

Minutes of Meeting details:

1. Mr. Jyoti Prakash started the meeting by briefing Bihar Brain (BB) and updating current ongoing BB activities, seminar and projects. He specifically informed them for 'Bihar Science Conference' which is going to be held in the month of 12- 14 February 2009 and invited them for participation. Also outlined on establishment of upcoming scientific R&D centre in Bihar. He requested all available personalities to extend their hands to strengthen BB Hyderabad Chapter and share their idea and view for the progress of Bihar.

It was first BB meeting for Hyderabad â€“ Secunderabad chapter and it was being started from a suburb so every local participant were overwhelmed with this very initiative and clapped for selecting and reaching the remote area at startup.

2. Mr. Kumar Rajendra shared his views on providing guidelines to rural graduate people regarding career and jobs. He highlighted and suggested that BB's message should reach to common people and in line with this he suggested for a BB magazine to be mailed to them on regular basis and ask for their career problem and difficulty on return mail.

3. Mr. S K Das emphasized on reaching ground level of people because they need actual help from us.

4. Mr. Sarvesh Kumar suggested to start some awareness program for rural people regarding career and jobs. For this BB can take on school â€“ level as a prime target. He also insisted to have regional/local representative every possible place.

This is to inform BB that Sarvesh ji is having a very great plan for his home town (Narkatiyaganj, E. Champaran) people and going to share with you all very shortly.

5. Mr. Rajesh Ranjan & Mr. Prabhat Ranjan supported all the suggestion and extended their support for upcoming BB projects.

6. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary and Mr. N R Mishra also provided their positive response for BB activities and good wishes in coming days.

I am happy to inform you that Mr. Rajeev Ranjan is now our new co- representative at Pune.

He is very active member at Pune since intial days of the start of BB.
He is basically a "Sahityakar and Philosopher by interest" who write stories very often . He has donated his Book " Aag aur Pani " to BiharBrains which has been uploaded into our website.
By profession he is software engineer working in Fulcrom Logic pvt ltd (www.fulcrumlogic.com) at Pune . Apart from his MCA degree (from Pune), he also completed his masters degree in Hindi from Patna University.
He is young and has great managerial abiltiy which he perform with devotion and sincereity. He hails from Rohua Village of Samstipur district of Bihar.

On behalf of BiharBrains Society, I give many thanks to him for taking this responsibility and also for becoming life time member of the society.

I' am forwarding minutes of our UK meeting:
1. UK group has been formed with volunteers from University of Leeds,
University of Oxford and University of Birmingham which will help in
organising `Community based projects' and bringing `research
collaborations' in Bihar. We are also talking to volunteers from
Newcastle and Manchester University. I `am happy to inform that Dr.
Sanjay (Research Fellow, Birmingham University) has kindly agreed to
lead this group for first six months.
2. Prof. Sinha will be forming a research team in Patna.
3. A joint research proposal mainly on `Clinical and Medical Sciences'
will be submitted to the British Council or other funding bodies to
secure funds for feasibility study.
4. We are working on a database having research details of BB members
currently based in UK and a copy of database will be sent to Prof. Sinha.
5. UK group has decided to sponsor best project award for final year
students- Cash prize 100-200£ has been agreed.
6. After formation of Patna research group, we will contact BJMA group
to provide funding/support for `Medical Science' research work.
7. Finally, we've decided to meet again after the formation of Patna
research group.

In a recent remark, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and noted film star from Bihar Shatrughan Sinha said Bihar had no dearth of talent. It has produced people of outstanding talents who have gone to make their names not only in India but across the globe.

Dr. Kumar Shwetketu Virbhadra is one of those shining stars from Bihar who has broken the mould of an average Bihari and is now in proud company of some of the world's noted scientists and educationists.

At the end of 2006, Dr. Virbhadra, a native of Nadwan village in Patna district, had the distinct honor of being listed as the author of most number of research papers in the top-50 most highly cited papers in Einstein's general theory of relativity and quantum cosmology.

Among those who also appear in this prestigious list are Nobel laureate Prof. Steven Wienberg, noted particle physicist and Prof. S. W. Hawking, the legendary scientist and visionary who does not need any introduction.

Dr. Virbhadra matriculated from Nadwan High School in Patna district. He earned his M.Sc. degree from Patna University and PhD degree from Physical Research Laboratory (Ahmedabad). His research fields are Einstein's General Theory of Relativity and Astrophysics. He has worked in India, Spain, South Africa and United States. He was privileged to have the opportunity to work at several institutions including Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (India), University of Cape Town (South Africa) and Duke University (USA). At present he is working at the University of Sciences in Philadelphia (USA) as a research associate professor.

The SPIRES-HEP (run by the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre, California (USA)) publishes the top 50 most highly cited papers during a year by papers in the General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology archive. It is considered very prestigious to have even one paper appeared on this list. In 2006, Dr. Virbhadra's 5 papers were under the top 50 most highly cited papers. In fact, he has the largest number of papers on this list. This information is available here.

Dr. Virbhadra's top cited papers are on black holes, gravitational waves, and the cosmic censorship hypothesis. Out of his five top cited papers, four are sole-authored and one is a joint paper with Prof. Nathan Rosen, who was a principal collaborator of the greatest scientist of the 20th century, Albert Einstein. Prof. Rosen is well-known for his Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox, Einstein-Rosen bridge, and Einstein-Rosen gravitational waves. Dr. Virbhadra's joint paper with Prof. Rosen is on Einstein-Rosen gravitational waves.

Dr. Virbhadra was also privileged to have the opportunity to collaborate and publish three papers with Prof. George F. R. Ellis of Hawking-Ellis fame. He and Prof. Ellis obtained a new gravitational lens equation that is now known in the scientific world as the Virbhadra-Ellis lens equation. This has resurrected the research field of black hole lensing and has attracted many researchers from all over the world to work on this very hot and important research topic.

I am very much happy to inform you that we are increasing the size of core committee. This is because of the introduction of few local members into our General Body of the society. During Yearly GBM (General Body Meeting) at Patna, it was decided to increase the size of GBM by Giving chance to new members, revise the slabs of membership to make our team more vibrant and strong. During meeting, few local members have been given responsibility of new office bearers of the society on the consent from members present in the meeting.

1. Prof N.K.Mishra : He has been elected as new Vice President of the society during yealy meeting of the GBM (General Body Meeting). He will take charge from Mr. Kumar Vikash. Also, he accepted additional responsibility of Center Superintendent of Bihar Brains Scholastic Center voluntarily.

By Profession, he is retired professor of PG Dept of Zoology, Patna University. He wrote many books in Zoology (7-8), one book on General science for 9th standard with Prof H.C Verma, a famous writer of the concept of Physics.

His book "Dusera Mashiha" in Hindi and "Lingering Shadow" in English are very interesting. The Lingering Shadow was also published in UK and USA.
He did Ph.d and Post DOC from North Carolina University,USA and also worked as Research scientist in USA for several years. Later he joined Patna University in Zoology department . He published more than 100 research papers in national and international journals.

2. Dr. Dolly Sinha :She has been elected as New General Secretary of the society . She will take charge from Sri Gopi chandra Prasad. She has also been elected as Convenor of newly formed Global Scientific Council during Bihar Science Conference,2008.
She is Professor of Physics and has taken additional charge of the head of the computer science department of Magadh Mahila college, Patna. She is actively involved with us since the inception of BiharBrains. 3. Prof Rajmani Pd.Sinha : He has been elected as Chairman of newly formed Global Core Scientific Council. He will take charge from Prof J. Thakur former Vice Chancellor of Patna University. Dr. Sinha is also former Vice chancellor of Mithila University. At present, he is professor of Physics, Patna Univeristy and Director of academic staff college, Patna University. He works on experimental physics, particularly on Laser spectroscopy. His work on Neon Laser and Laser cooling was applauded by the academic circle.

4. Prof Jainendra Kumar : He has been elected as Chairman for the second Bihar Science Conference going to be held on Feb 12-14,2009 at PG Center, Magadh University, college of commerce, Patna.
He is actively involved with us two years. He is PG Head of the department of Botany and Biotechnology, College of Commerce, Patna and has established research and training center in Biotechnology at Patna.

BB Appreciates its global members for their Contribution

BiharBrains has completed the first year of its existence as registered society on May 16th, 2008. During this period, we successfully organized many programs & Events related to science and technology and witnessed large gathering particularly in workshop in VLSI, Sweden India Scientist Interaction Programs, and recently concluded the first Bihar Science Conference, 2008; we launched BB needy talent search Scheme, and started British Library Project. We started Blog on the demand of IISER and very importantly Hon'ble CM wrote letter to Hon'ble PM to put force the demand for IISER in the Bihar. Recently, we formed our global scientific council for organizing science conferences, workshops, seminars, short term courses, starting or help to establish R&D center in Bihar, starting journals/magazine etc.

This all became possible due to collaborative effort of the individual BB members, group associates and all other corners of the society. We salute all of them who have been involved themselves directly or indirectly in these activities. At the outset, we are going to enlist name of the persons who contributed BB financially and did society work to support the organizational efforts. In a major and bold Initiative, The BiharBrains Scholastic center has decided to start its Center for personality Development and Human Resource (CPD HR) at Patna in association with Digital Footprints, a UK based company. The main aim of this Center is to develop interpersonal and soft skills among youngsters which is necessary to have in everybody to compete with fast changing world market where students of Bihar really lack in. This center will provide special training to those who wants to opt for higher studies in abroad, who are working or eligible for working as software professionals, Engineers, Managers (MBA or non MBAs) and govt officials.

subject were called to make a comment on the whole program:

Physics:
The person representing Physics Department stressed the need for
lab upgradation and said that the present research contribution and
facilities in Bihar does not exist. He also stressed that the paper
selection process for the conference be better organized.

Bio Science:
Appreciated the effort of Bihar Science conference and put it as
an forum to exchange ideas. He admiited that there exists a brain
drain in Bihar and that is because of lack of facilities. Conference
therefore was the need of the hour.

Chemistry:
He said that Research is a long process and that leads to
deviation from it and attraction towards other administrative services
becomes obvious. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers
specially Bibhuti ji. He stressed on a committee of experts from
different fields of Chemistry like Organic / Inorganic / Physical /
Environmental etc. as well as theory and Experimental Chemistry. He
emphasized on time management and added that the number of
participants may be fixed. He also pointed out that question session
may be increased.

Mathematical Science:
He put forward his concern that mathematics was not duly
represented and brought out the existing research facility status. He
also added that the journals were not at all available for actual
research.

Prof. Jainendra Kr:

(i) While stressing the role of Bihar Brains said that it is a forum
to inculcate scientific temperament and motivate people to do well to
see the improvement of Bihar. He stressed that we should work with the
Govt to develope Bihar making use of its talents.
(ii) He appreciated the role of Bibhuti Bikramaditya to have taken all
pains to bring together so many people on one forum.
(iii) He expressed his concern that there are no regular courses
running on Bio-technology. They are vocational in nature.
(iv) He also added that the conference should be annual affair with
emphasis on all specializations Bio, Physical, Chemical, Engg &
Technological sciences.
(v) We may introduce some awards for best presentation etc.

1. Prof. Animesh Jha:
(i) We should adhere to timings for presentation
(ii) He stressed on the difference between planary or Key note speech
and the paper presentation
(iii) He emphasized on better organization and coordination of all events.
(iv) Stressed on Paper presentation and its importance
(v) He suggested that we may not have subject specific conferences
else it will involve more cost.
(vi) He suggested to combine conference with workshops which may be
topic specific
(vii) He suggested the conferences to be organized under different symposia

Prof. Raman Kr Jha:

(i) He applauded the efforts of the Bihar Brains Development Society
and said that lot of opportunities already exists. Sikkim Manipal
University itself offeres courses on 5 year integrated M.Sc, M.Sc in
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, B. Tech and students from Bihar
are benefitting from it.
(ii) PhD opportunities also exist in SMU. We should take the advantage.
(iii) He stressed that we do not have to go abroad to do research.
These days Govt is supporting such causes and we have to be receptive
in seeing these avanues.
(iv) He suggested that we can have state wide science popularization
programs and talent search programs from all levels.
(v) He appreciated the response of Bihar Scientific community for
their response for this conference and added that we should have this
conference annually in more organized manner. The people of Bihar have
to play a role to have a better effect.

General Suggestions and Recommendations:
1. Conference should be more organized and should run in a parallel session.
2. Mathematical science and psychology should be added as the subject of the conference.
Outcomes of the conference:
1. Formation of Global core Scientific Council: BiharBrains has formed global core scientific council of 25 eminent scientists (two from each subject from Bihar, one from each subject from other states of India, two from each subjects from abroad). The aim of this council to organize science conferences, Workshops, Scientific Festivals, short term programs, starting R&D Center, and providing help to local research groups. This center is the one of the outcome of the Bihar Science Conference, 2008.
2. Center for Personality Development and Human Resource: BiharBrains is establishing Center for personality development and Human Resource at Patna. The main aim of this center is to train working /non working engineers, software professionals,management aspirants, govt officials and non govt working officials to develop their interpersonal soft skills. This is being established in association with Digital Footprints Pvt Ltd, a UK based company. This center is the one of the outcome of the Bihar Science Conference, 2008.
3. Four Students of Biotechnology selected: Four students of dept of Botany and Biotechnology selected for orientation programs in Konkuk University, S. Korea. They will be given one month training in Animal Biotechnology at university campus of the Konkuk
University, Seoul,S Korea.

Dr. A. P. J. Kalam, the former President of India, has confirmed his participation as the keynote speaker in the inaugural function of the first Bihar Science Conference being organized by Bihar Brains (BBrains Development Society) and Department of Science and Technology, Govt of Bihar, at Patna scheduled for May 7-9, 2008.

Considering the extreme heat during the week of conference, the committee decided to change the venue from Patna University to Sri Krishna Memorial Hall for the inaugural session the Patna Planetarium auditorium for technical session.

The 3-day conference will be attended by more than 300 scientists from India and abroad including scientists from Oxford University, University of Leeds, Max Planck Research Institute, Germany, Korea and USA, IITs, NITs, IISC, Central Universities and other research institutes in India.

Prominent scientists who are expected to deliver their lecture include Dr. S. E. Hasnain (Member, SAC-PM), Prof Animesh Jha (University of Leeds), Mr. Ashish Kumar (Oxford University), Prof Ruxandra Sitaraeneu (Max Planck Research Institute, Germany), Prof M. K. Mishra, IIT Mumbai, Prof Shibaji Raha (Director, Bose Institute, Kolkata), and Prof Vijay Singh, TIFR, Mumbai.

This was informed by Dr. Jagannath Thakur, chairman of the conference and former Vice Chancellor of Patna University.

This conference is on the pattern of Indian Science Congress in which one university gets "Hosting University status". Patna University is the first hosting university for this conference, Thakur said.

The conference intends to create a platform for the great minds from various subjects to come together for fostering scientific temperament in the state. Experts from various fields are likely to evaluate the existing information, to interpret the presented data, to discuss suitable measures for clear and useful results and finally to explore if collective efforts are promising to achieve favorable working environment for research and development in the state.

Dr. Anil Kumar, state Minister for Science & Technology, Prof Shyam Lal, Vice Chancellor Patna University, Prof I. Ehsan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Patna University, Dr. Y. C. Simadri, (former PU VC), Dr. (Prof) S. E. Hasnain, Scientific Advisor to the Prime Minister of India and the Vice Chancellor of Hyderabad University.

Bibhuti Bikramaditya, Global Chairman, BiharBrains (BBrains Development Society) is the patron of the conference. He was scheduled to be accompanied by Prof J. N. Chatterjee, the former head of Chemistry Department, Patna University, who sadly died just few days back.

“I am very happy to know that Bihar is gearing up for holding its first Bihar Science Conference (Bihar Vigyan Sammelan) which will bring scientists, academicians and young scientist from India and abroad on a common platform for exchanging ideas on the subjects of science and technology,” Dr. Hasnain said about the conference.

I am happy to inform you that Dr. A.P.J Kalam , former Preseident of India has confirmed his participation as "Keynote Speaker in the Inaugural Function " of the first Bihar Science Conference, being organised by Bihar Brains(BBrains Development Society) and Department of Science and Technology, Govt of Bihar at Patna .

The conference which was scheduled to be held on May 13-15 has been rescheduled for May 7-9,2008 at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall (Inaugural session) and Planetarim auditorium (Technical Session).
